We spent another year at the Phillips' to celebrate the 4th of July (on the 3rd as usual) and had a great time. Of course the fireworks were great. (Great job Dean!)
The kids had a great time and so did the grown ups. Out of 4 families, we had 11 kids under the age of six. Luckily the ratio of boys to girls works out so that they all have someone to play with. :-)Unfortunately Kristine suffered an injury near the end of the evening (blame it on the beer) but was okay. :-)
Sadly, Jake touched something at some point during the evening (it could have been anything) and had some swelling on his fingers and some blister-looking bumps that we did not notice until we got home (he never told us he had an "owie".) The next morning we found that the blisters had broken during the night and his fingers and hands looked terrible. I took him into the convenience care at his pediatrician's office and they treated him for a chemical burn since there was no way of knowing what he touched. He was a trooper as the nurses bandaged his hands and did not cry until they were done and he wanted them off. Once home he immediately started playing and hasn't let the bandages slow him down one bit. We hope after a few days of home treatment, his hands will be back to normal.
